Managing Mailing Lists and Subscribers in Public Website WordPress

Having first logged into WordPress:

1. Change the active Section to About BCIT (if it isn’t already the current Section). This will make the Mailing Lists menu item appear.
2. Hover over the Mailing List menu item and click on either Course Subscribers or Program Subscribers, as appropriate.
   
3. Select one or more Programs or Courses by checking the checkbox next to the program or course name in the list.
   
   • Note: You can search for the program or course you want using the search field, which will start searching as you type.
   • Note: You can see the current number of subscribers for each program or course in the “Count” column.
4. Click the Export Subscribers button at the top right.
   
5. Your browser will start to download a .csv file named “mailinglist-subscribers-<todaysdate>.csv”. You may need to choose how to open it or where to save it on your computer.
   

Individuals can manage their own subscriptions and unsubscribe from a specific mailing list whenever they wish. However, on occasion, it may be desirable to remove one or more email addresses from every mailing list at the same time.

Note: There’s no way to directly manage a specific mailing list (adding or removing subscribers) or to, as a third party, directly manage a specific user’s subscriptions in WordPress. The process below is the “nuclear option,” to be used with care and only when absolutely necessary. There is no way to undo this process.

Having first logged into WordPress:

2. Hover over the Mailing List menu item and click Bounce Subscribers.
3. Enter the email address/es into the “Bounce Emails” text box. If adding more than one, put them each on a separate line.
4. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the box.

WordPress will then check all emails in the box against the entire subscriber database and will mark any subscriptions found as unsubscribed. Email addresses that don’t exist in the database will be ignored. Again, this cannot be undone.
