Cancelling Events in the Public Website WordPress Events Calendar

Before doing anything else, you will want to mark the event as having been cancelled so that this is visible on the website.

In WordPress:

1. Select the correct Section in the Section selector.
2. Click on Events in the WordPress menu.
3. Find the event you want to cancel and note whether there are any existing attendees. This will be visible under the Attendees heading and will look like this:
   
   • Note that events without a registration option and events with no current registered attendees will look the same in this listing, but you can tell whether a registration option exists by hovering over the event title and seeing the options available to you. With no registration option:

4. Make a revision (if you are Editor) or directly edit the event to add “[Cancelled] ” at the start of the Event title and submit for review by your Publisher (if you are Editor) or Update the event (if you are a Publisher.

In WordPress:

1. In the Events listing, hover over the title of the event you are modifying (the published event, not the submitted revision or any backup revisions if those exist). Click on Attendees.
2. Click on the Export button above the list of registered attendees. The following pop-up will appear, asking what you want to do with the file you’re opening.
   
   • Note: The name of the file will be the name of the event followed by “.csv”. A .csv file is a file that you can open in Excel, so this will most likely be the default application suggested.
3. Open or save the file and following your own department processes, use the information within it to email attendees about the cancellation.

Note: this step can only be performed by Publishers or Admins.

In WordPress:

1. Hover over the cancelled event title in the Events list and click Edit.
2. Scroll down to the Tickets heading and click on the Edit icon (looks like a pencil) for the registration option.
   
3. Click on Delete Registration at the bottom right of the Ticket sidebar.
   
4. Click OK to confirm the deletion in the pop-up that appears.
   
5. The ticket will disappear from the list. To complete the edit, click Update in the Publisher sidebar.
