Adding a “Toggle BCIT Website” Bookmarklet To Your Browser to Easily Switch Between Live/Prod Views of the BCIT Public Web WordPress

In Firefox:

1. Ensure that your bookmarks toolbar is visible and set to Always Show by right-clicking either in the bookmarks toolbar (if visible) or in any empty space near the address bar.
   
2. Right-click in empty space in your bookmarks toolbar and click on Add Bookmark….
   
3. In the Add Bookmark popup, type “Toggle BCIT Website” into the Name field.
4. Click the copy button to copy this javascript, and then paste it into the URL field.

The bookmarklet should now be visible in the Bookmarks toolbar. If it isn’t immediately visible but you can see a full toolbar of previously-added bookmarks, you may need to rearrange them in the list or delete unwanted ones to ensure that the Toggle BCIT Website bookmarklet is visible in the toolbar (right-click in the bookmarks toolbar and click Manage Bookmarks).

Now whenever you are looking at content on www.bcit.ca you can click the bookmarklet to quickly switch to the kb.bcit.ca version, which should also give you access to the black top-of-screen WordPress utility menu and the tools it contains (as long as you are logged into WordPress). Likewise, you can also click it to change back to www.bcit.ca. The bookmarklet also works for articles in the Knowledge Base.

In Chrome:

1. Ensure that your bookmarks toolbar is visible by clicking the three vertical dots at the top right of your browser window, then hovering over Bookmarks in the menu and clicking Show bookmarks bar (if it isn’t already checked).

3. In the Edit Bookmark popup, type “Toggle BCIT Website” into the Name field.
