Exporting Content from your @my.bcit.ca Email Account

If you would like to keep a copy of your email data before your @my.bcit.ca account is retired, you can export your content for personal storage or future reference. The sections below provide step-by-step instructions for exporting your emails and your address book (contacts).

Instructions:

To export all emails from your @my.bcit.ca account before deactivation, follow these steps:

Log in to my.bcit.ca using your BCIT email and password.
Select My Mail.
Click the drop-down next to Select and choose All to highlight all emails in your inbox.
Click More (⋯), then Download, and choose a file format: Mbox or Maildir.
- Mbox saves all emails in one file.
- Maildir saves each email as a separate file.

Follow the steps below to export your contacts from your @my.bcit.ca email account. Exporting your address book allows you to retain your contacts and import them into another email platform if needed.

Log into myBCIT.
Click the My Mail link in the menu in the top-right corner.
In your myBCIT email, click on Contacts.
Click on the drop-down menu to the right of Export, and click on “Export all”, or select specific contact(s) and click on “Export selected”.

A file should appear on the bottom-left corner of your screen.

The exported contacts can be found as “contacts.vcf” in your “Download” folder.
