Booking a Computer Lab

Be sure that you know what you need before you start:

• Required capacity (15, 20, 25, 30 seats)
• Is the lab limited by a need for specific hardware?
• What teaching hours and scramble time are needed?

Find labs on the campus you’re teaching that have enough computers and are hopefully available when your class is scheduled.

Scan through the list of labs on each campus page for a suitable lab.

• Note: The maximum amount of students that should be booked in a lab is 90% of the number of student workstations (23 in a 25 seat lab, 27 in a 30 seat lab). Lab computers require maintenance regularly and overbooking may result in a poor student experience.

Once you have identified a list of potential labs that meet your requirements:

1. Contact your department timetabling representative or the Timetabling Office.
2. Provide the list of potential labs indicating order of preference and required time and duration of booking. Timetabling must book the space for you or the room will not be reserved for your use.

AppsAnywhere is the primary software delivery method for all faculty and students, including in BCIT computer labs. AppsAnywhere makes it unnecessary for software to be pre-installed in specific labs and provides much greater flexibility for faculty and students, since it permits them to run whatever software is necessary in any available PC lab or on their own personal Windows devices.

It’s still important to request all needed software for your courses in advance, but this is no longer tied to booking a lab.
