Turning on notifications for your mobile device

Enabling notifications at the mobile device level means allowing the Teams app (and other apps) to send you notifications. This is a global setting that permits notifications to appear on your device’s lock screen, notification centre, and as banner alerts.

1. Navigate to your phone Settings.
2. Tap on Notifications.
3. Scroll down and select the Teams app.
4. Ensure that Notifications are enabled for the Teams app to receive call alerts.
   

You can easily turn off notifications in the Teams app when you need uninterrupted focus or downtime by adjusting the notification settings within the app.

Adjusting notifications within the Teams app

This allows you to customize specific notification settings within the Teams app itself. You can decide which types of notifications you receive from Teams, such as chat messages, mentions, team activity, or calls.

1. Open the Teams app on your mobile device.
2. Access settings:
   • On Android: Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) at the top left, then select Settings.
   • On iOS: Tap your profile picture or initials at the top left corner of the app, then select Settings.
     
3. Tap Notifications to access and customize your notification preferences.

Making a call on the dial pad

1. Open the Teams App on your mobile device
2. Tap the Calls icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the Dial Pad icon (Phone+).
   
4. Enter the phone number using the dial pad.
   Note: Dialing 9 before the number is no longer required.
5. Tap the Phone icon to start the call.
   

Selecting a contact to call

1. Open the Teams App on your mobile device
2. Tap the Calls icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the Dial Pad icon (Phone+).
   
4. Tap the People tab to access your Contacts list.
5. Enter the name of the person you wish to call. As you type, matching contacts will appear under Directory contacts.
6. Tap the Phone icon next to the person’s name to start the call.
   

You can easily check your voicemail messages on the Microsoft Teams app from your mobile device by following these steps:

1. Open the Teams App on your mobile device
2. Tap the Calls icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the Voicemail icon in the top-right corner.
   
4. In the Voicemail section, you can view all of your received messages. Tap on the voicemail you want to review.

When you check your voicemail on the Teams app, you can view a transcript of the message and listen to the audio recording, providing a convenient way to manage your messages.

Below the voicemail, you’ll find four quick-access icons that allow you to enable speakerphone, return the call, view directory information, or delete the message.

Note: Before proceeding with transferring a call between your mobile device and computer (and vice-versa), ensure that the Teams app is open on both devices.

Transferring a call from your computer to your mobile device

1. While on an active Teams call on your computer, find the ongoing call notification on your mobile device. A banner at the top of the Teams app will indicate the call. Tap Join.
   
2. Tap Transfer to this device to move the call to your mobile device.
   
3. The call will seamlessly transfer, allowing you to continue the conversation on your mobile device.
   

Transferring a call from your mobile device to your computer

1. While on an active Teams call on your mobile device, find the ongoing call notification on your computer. A banner at the top of the Teams app will indicate the call. Click Join call.
   
2. Click Transfer to this device to move the call to your computer.
   
3. Click Join now.
   
4. The call will seamlessly transfer, allowing you to continue the conversation on your computer.
