Setting up Cisco Viewmail Using the Installation Wizard

Cisco ViewMail for Outlook provides a visual interface with which users can send, listen to, and manage their Cisco Unity Connection voice messages from Outlook. Without this Outlook plugin, you will be limited to playing voice messages in your Inbox using a 3rd party WAV player.

Viewmail is installed on your BCIT computer. Follow these steps to configure ViewMail the first time you open Outlook.

  1. Launch Outlook
  2. Click Next at the Viewmail Welcome screen.screen shot of setting up Cisco Viewmail
  3. Click Next again at the Welcome screen.
  4. The proper settings should already be selected as shown below.
    1. If the Voicemail Server name is blank, type cuc-bby-primary.bcit.ca, ensure your email address is selected from the Drop-down list and and click Next to continue.

  5. If you access multiple Mailboxes from Outlook, you will need to authenticate on the following screen. Enter your usual BCIT credentials.
  6. Verify your 4-digit voice mailbox ID is correct (usually the same as your extension) in the Phone Number or URI filed and click Test Settings to ensure the service is installed properly.
  7. Click Ok when the test completes. Click Next to continue.screen shot of setting up Cisco Viewmail
  8. Click Finish. You will return to your Inbox.
